On August 08th, Henri Colombié passed away. For more than 10 yerars, he was a secretary devoted to the cause of Jean-François de Lapérouse
His role was essential, if not primordial. Everything that took place under his mandate as secretary of the Lapérouse Albi-France Association could not have been achieved without his extraordinary dedication and self-denial. A calm, meticulous and rigorous man, he became passionate about this cause that took him day and often night to always be there, omnipresent at every moment while remaining discreet.
Passionate about the history of botany and literature, he devoted a huge part of his last years to this cause that was so close to his heart. His kindness and loyalty were, among his many qualities, those that touched me the most.
I think of Mrs Marie-Christine Pestel, descendant of the Navigator family, who with Pierre Amalric was at the initiative of the Association Lapérouse Albi-France. He was indeed one of the few who, until the last moments, came to visit him and regularly ask for news of him. She was so touched by this until her last days. I will never forget Henri’s emotion, when I told him of his death, of not being able to join us for the funeral. This humanity, which gave Jean-François Galaup de Lapérouse this singularity which is so dear to us, Henri carried it within him.
