He is currently a lecturer at the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle de Paris and in charge of the research and teaching department of the musée du quai Branly. He has published over a hundred scientific articles during his career.

Christian Coiffier, here lying on a table, is an anthropologist at the Museum of Man (National Museum of Natural History). The scientist showed the inhabitants of Vanikoro photos of objects collected during previous excavations.
